Sand and Gravel Reclamation

PDS West is a land planning firm uniquely qualified to assist the Sand and Gravel and Landfill industries. In addition to extensive planning experience in “end-use” development (Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Park/Recreation and Mixed Use projects), PDS is knowledgeable in preparation of Reclamation Plans, Operations Plans, environmental documentation and permitting for sand and gravel and landfill operations.

In the past PDS has been under contract with the State Mining and Geology Board to prepare EIRs and Environmental Studies for all Sand and Gravel Appeals projects in California. We have prepared Reclamation Plans and Operations Plans for projects in Oregon and California.

As the pressures of urban development push further into previously isolated areas, the fiscal justification for developing a realistic reclamation plan for sand and gravel mines and landfill sites increases. If a gravel operations site is not within an urbanized/urbanizing area, it most likely will be by the time operations are complete. Property reclaimed, such sites may have as great a value as the minerals extracted.
